I've heard it said that taking ownership of problems can somehow help us to deal with them.
We give names to hurricanes, asteroids, planets, diseases and viruses. Often these names mean something to the person who names it.
We have this virus
some folk refuse to even say the name of it online or speak its name.
I’ve been looking back through history at major epidemics and pandemics. What I found was interesting. In the Middle Ages with fear of the unknown and many stories of the devils work etc. They had the Black Death. Today that wouldn’t be PC. But Black Death even sounds heavy. Spanish flue Im guessing was a way of blaming someone other than God. But in reality Spain which was a neutral country during the war and without press censorship. So they publicised the spread of the decease and therefore folk assumed, it originated in Spain.
Yellow fever isn't a hot oriental. But it was right not to confuse it with Jaundice and it wasn’t oriental enough.
China China China Wasn’t going to cut it either according to who.
Scientific names are just that. Like giving a star a number, it’s less personal.
AIDS stopped my mum from dieting, (remember those little fudge cubes for slimming) HIV stopped a lot of free loving In the 80’s
So without further ado. Let’s see if we can give this virus a personal name, which is PC, and doesn’t associate it with a Country or race.
Rules of engagement~ There are none. Throw down as many names that come to mind. I’m sure this virus will be around long enough to talk about it.
