  • So, its a grotty day... How do you stay sane?
I'm keen to avoid cabin fever :)

Sanity is over rated.. i just cant deal with the pressure!

We are watching movies and playing with lego. Ive started a patchwork blanket thingy. Watch porn. Catch up with e mails. Do some van repairs that need doing.. then watch the kids re break it.. cook.. read.. go swimming.. i dunno. Its not great weather to be van dwelling but we get by.

  • I'm getting bounced around a bit on my boat at the moment, way too rough to go sailing & not safe to dinghy to shore either. I have internet though & lots of books on my kindle, will no doubt be drinking a lot of tea & might yet resort to playing Scrabble against myself. Wish I had some lego...

LEGO! thats a great suggestion :)
It was one of those days when fitting a clutch in the pissing rain and laid in mud with oil running down my arms simply didnt make sense.
Got about 1/4 of it done today - until i found that i dont have a 34mm socket to undo the driveshaft nuts :(

That must be quite restrictive or just a acceptable part of the lifestyle?

Fortunately doesn't happen very often here in Greece, but yes it can be. I lived on a boat for 4 years in UK (albeit in a marina) until I sold it & got my van late last year. It's much cheaper to keep a boat here & today is another day, the sun's out, dinghied to shore earlier for provisions & now I'm sunbathing on the back of the boat, lovely...

  • Last wet days for me have been spent.
Fixing the lightning for running on LED's. Wrapping up and walking in the rain (helps me calm down) especially coming back to a warming van.
Reading books. Playing old school games on the playstation portable.
Reading up more on outdoor crafts and steadily making my way through the harry potter audio books by Stephen Fry.

  • I am in the same boat... stuck with nothing to do most of the time. So,i have decided to save up my money and buy a motoriszed treadmill,a cheap one on amazon. That will keep me active during bad rainy a cold days.
