  • PLEASE HELP US

we need more people at the somerset camp urgently. please please support this. if you cannot stay at camp then please consider patrolling the cull zones. there is a lot of info on facebook you can search or contact me directly. we need more folks there as the area is huge. badgers have been killed and there are reports of dogs being used :( the aim is to use legal and peaceful direct action ie getting in the way via the footpaths at night, and scaring the badgers away with lights etc. PLEASE join us.

Walk the cull zone footpaths, day and night. Report what you see and hear back to the camps. Don't post it on public facebook. Be careful who you talk to. Be careful what you post online. Be safe.

Also, google is your friend. Learn about badgers and their habitats. Read the reports by government scientists that say culling is not the answer to bTB.

    Educate yourselves and others.

before anybody thinks that it will not make a difference- public viewpoint is mainly AGAINST this cull and we have loads of media involved. help us please. will update this thread as the police are trying to move the camp on in somerset

liftsharing to get to the camps here ^^

  • They could really use some help there guys, wounded badger patrols desperately need more people :(

I've been tripping from sipping the dripping dirty water tap,
i've been thinking i'm drinking too many drinks all by myself.
I've been poking a voodoo doll that you do not know I made, for you, of you.

  • I wish I was close enough to help you down there. I feel so completely useless seeing it happening on TV. I'll send a donation tomorrow when I get paid. Love you all for doing everything you can.

  • latest news:
[h=5]TONIGHTS SOMERSET ZONE PATROL: Meet at Williton Car park, next to the shell garage. 6.45pm.

From there we will split in to 2 groups and head out to 2 different locations. If you can't get there for that time, you can call us on 07425 071510.

Alternatively you can make your own group, you don't need huge numbers. Wear high vis, take torches and maps, and patrol the cull zones and all it's footpaths. For health and safety reasons the marksmen have to put their guns down if the public are near by. This means simply by being there and making it obvious you are there, you can stop badgers being shot. Peaceful, non violent direct action that saves lives. The more people that can patrol, and the more groups that can be formed, the safer the badgers will be.[/h]

  • Gimme a shout when you want to head to the Gloucester zone and i`ll put you in touch with people who`ll give you a meeting point.

    I will, and thank you.

    - i believe that the gloucester site starts next wk. is the somerset one we are desperately needing help with. can you get to somerset?

at the moment i can't, sorry. Gloucester is about as far as i can travel due to personal circumstances.

  • I cab't get there due to distance and work, but I've popped a donation in.
All the best to those who are fighting this insanity.

  • Just a quick message to say thanks to all who are involved in this. I can not be with you in person, but I am there with you in spirit and I will be passing on info to friends in somerset who will hopefully join in and help stop this.

Come on you ignorant bastards, when will you learn that money is no where as important as nature, talk about costing the earth:panic:

Can we have a choice between badgers or red necked wankers with guns please? oh,its a no brainer me thinks!!

  • Badger patrols have started in Gloucestershire - easiest option is to join facebook group Gloucestershire Against Badger Shooting, who can give you details of patrol times and locations and other things you can do to help x

  • [h=5]Data from the randomised badger culling trials in the late 1990's found that 16% of slaughtered badgers were infected. 84% of badgers culled were healthy animals. Assuming those figures are still relatively accurate (and scientists reckon they are), out of the 5000 badgers they plan to cull in the two pilot zones - Somerset and Gloucestershire, approx 4200 will be healthy ones.

Still think the cull makes sense?

  • Hope to get down there soon, have donated to the Manchester Sabs petrol fund so they can keep sending people down. Free lifts from London to somerset I read yesterday folks x

  • The previous Camp Badger site in Somerset was evicted but a new one has just been set up, it is free and is child/dog friendly. Phone 01386 761455 for details. Alternatively, if you aren't comfortable with wild camping, there are plenty of authorised camping sites in both the Somerset and Gloucestershire cull areas, obviously these cost money though :)

  • Tonight's update from Stop The Cull:

"roadwater, carhampton x 2, vellow, wheddon cross, dunster All shooting. Loads of police out, NFU security with dogs in toyota hi-lux. All really kicking off all over the zone, sabs and badger patrols & "somerset against the badger cull" All doing what they do.
Early reports are the shooting has been stopped at all these sites. Together we can stop the cull, Please do try to get into the cull zone and help to stop the cull, its only numbers on the ground now that can stop it.."

Also, it has been clarified that the new Camp Badger site has landowner permission :) It is child and dog friendly, and it's free, there is no running water or facilities (though you are able to get phones charged) but is a safe site full of lovely people :) Cars, tents and vans welcome, but buses won't fit through the site gate. Location is to be kept secret (obviously it's in Somerset) but you can message me for details or see the pinned post on the Stop The Cull facebook page. Anyone planning to visit Camp Badger, whether just for a few hours or a few days, they could really use bottled water, tent pegs, tent poles, torches, hi viz, whistles, wind up radios, old/spare tents, old/spare sleeping bags and anything else you'd like to donate, but more than anything they'd just appreciate your company and support. :)

As for Gloucestershire, although shooting doesn't appear to have started yet, Badger Patrols are already up and running and could use more people - all peaceful and completely legal, lovely bunch of people, search Gloucestershire Against Badger Shooting on facebook for more info :)

  • Yup out tonight in Gloucestershire and all seems to be quiet apart from a stroppy farmer or two :)

Pfft, we're perfectly entitled to walk the footpaths, nothing illegal about that, so the farmers can swivel :p

  • Can I ask any of you who haven't yet signed the petition to do so please, and share it on facebook/twitter/forums - it's stalling at about 290,000 and we'd like to get it up to 300,000 at least. Thanks :)

  • Just been confirmed that the cull has started in Gloucestershire. According to an independent media organisation there are already over 100 protesters there.

This`ll be going on for the next 6 weeks so if anyone can even come for one night to help it`ll make all the difference..
